Who We Are

MDCS History

Over recent years most Deaf clubs have closed and local Deaf people have become isolated, which has affected their mental health. Exacerbated by the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic the remaining Deaf clubs were not used so we know the Deaf community has suffered further isolation. Deaf people had limited access to BSL interpreted information and did not understand the severity of the pandemic and did not have access to the updates. This led to a spike in Deaf people experiencing mental health difficulties and again with very limited access to counselling for Deaf BSL users. The MDCS was established in September 2022 in direct response to this crisis.
